NBA: Orlando Magic at Toronto Raptors Betting Preview

In a game that was pretty tight throughout, it was the Magic who were able to emerge victorious. The best part of their victory, is that they won a playoff game before the Lakers did after the Dwight Howard trade seven years ago.

Toronto is hoping to even things up, and avoid going down 0-2. They have struggled in the postseason during the last year years, but that was not until they went against LeBron. Worth noting however, that #7 Indiana pushed them to seven in the opening round, three years ago. The Raptors are -10.5 and the total is listed at 212 for this game on Tuesday.

Magic Looking for Back to Back Road Wins

It was a real team effort to claim the opening win in this first-round series, but for Orlando, it came down to DJ Augustin. The veteran NBA point guard, who began his career with a trip to the playoffs with the Charlotte Bobcats, brought his A-game. DJ scored 25 points, including the game-winning three with only three seconds remaining on the clock. He hit nine of 13 shots from the floor in all, while dishing out six assists. His backup, Michael Carter-Williams, who has been irrelevant the past few years, came through with a 10-point, five-rebound performance off the bench, as he has fit well here.

Nikola Vucevic had one of his worst statistical performances of the season with just 11 points and eight rebounds. But getting a little production from every other starter was enough to carry the load. Fournier added 16, AG had 10 & 10, and Isaac finished with 11 pts and eight boards.

Raptors Need Improved Play

Yeah, it was not too pretty for Toronto in game one. They got off to a solid start in the opening quarter, before being held to just 19 in the second. They trailed by eight at the break, before turning things around and taking the lead in the third. But they just could not close the game out, could not slow down DJ Augustin, and could not claim the first win on their home floor. The most surprising stat however, was Kyle Lowry going a big 0-for from the floor. He has had some poor playoff performances in the past, and this was just another one.

Another one was Pascal Siakam leading the team with 24 shot attempts, to Kawhi’s 18. Marc Gasol had 13-6-4, but it seems that their trading of Valanciunas along with Delon Wright and CJ Miles has had some negative repercussions. Every player they traded went on to play their best ball of the season, and in a few of the cases, of their careers. Marc Gasol has not put up the same sort of numbers.
