Cleveland coach, Tyronn Lue, was not happy with his team’s lack of energy and competitiveness in game 1. Lue will have to find a way to light a spark in his team for game 2. Cavaliers Have Been Here Before
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in this position before, and won’t hit the panic button. The Cavs will regroup and will come back with a much better performance in game 2. The Cavaliers need to shoot much better in game 2, as they were just 4-26 (15.4%) from the three point line in game 1. The Cavaliers must get outside scoring to open up driving lanes for LeBron James.
LeBron saw many different defenders in game 1, and he wasn’t able to solve any of them. James finished with only 15 points while also committing a game high 7 turnovers. If the past is any indication, LeBron is about to bounce back in a big way in game 2. LeBron’s leadership will get the Cavaliers off to a better start than they had in the series opener.
Celtics Enjoy Underdog Role
The Celtics are a small favorite in game 2, but they are not the team expected to win this series. In fact, most people didn’t think that the Celtics would make it this far, but they continue to surprise people. The Celtics got off to a hot start in game 1 and used a 17-0 first quarter run to distance themselves from the Cavaliers.
Marcus Morris led the way for the Celtics on both offense and defense. Morris was inserted into the starting lineup and drew the defensive assignment on LeBron to begin the game. Morris also added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics. Veteran Al Horford continued his terrific play in the 2018 playoffs, delivering 20 points and 6 assists in the series opener.
Boston Defends Home Court
The Boston Celtics executed their game plan perfectly in game 1, but the Cavaliers will have a response in game 2. The Cavaliers will knock down more of their three point attempts in game 2, which should open up driving lanes for LeBron. LeBron had a rough game 1, but he’s too good to be shutdown all series long.
The Celtics will continue to follow the lead of their coach, Brad Stevens. Stevens has the Celtics playing inspired basketball, and the team believes they have a real chance in this series.
