Monday Night Football: Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans Betting Pick

On Monday Night Football, the Tennessee Titans travel to Houston to take on the Texans in an AFC South divisional battle. The Texans are 7-3 and first place in the division, while the Titans are 5-5 and third place in the division. A win for Houston would just strengthen their lead in the division, but a Titans win would mean a lot more. With a win, Tennessee will move into a three-way tie for the second wild card spot. Tennessee beat Houston 20-17 all the way back in week two.

Titans Looking to Recover

The Titans are coming off an embarrassing performance last week against the Indianapolis Colts. Tennessee lost 38-10 and had no chance as soon as the game started. They were severely outplayed in every aspect of the game. Marcus Mariota threw for 85 yards and an interception and was replaced by Blaine Gabbert to begin the second half, and he didn’t fare too well either. Gabbert went 11 for 16 for 118 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. They totaled 87 yards on the ground. The biggest concern was the defense, who got picked apart by the Colts all day. They allowed 397 total yards and five touchdowns.

Houston On A Hot Streak

Houston comes in riding a seven-game winning streak after beginning the season 0-3 and are playing well on both sides of the ball. Their defense has been the main reason for their success, allowing more than 21 points only two times on this winning streak. The offense hasn’t been perfect, but it has done just enough to come out victories in a few of these games. Last week, DeShaun Watson threw for 208 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. They added 139 yards on the ground. They were only able to score one offensive touchdown and had to settle for three field goals. The defense bailed them out with a 101-yard pick-six right before half.

Titans May Struggle

The Titans do not have many weapons on offense and rely heavily on Corey Davis and Dion Lewis to make plays for them. They rank 30th in the league averaging less than 300 yards per game. The passing game has been abysmal, averaging only 184 yards per game. The running game hasn’t been much better, but it has been more productive than throwing the ball. Dion Lewis handles most of the early down work and Derrick Henry is mainly a short down back. The Texans defense should smell blood in the water with this weak offense coming to town. The Titans could be in for another long day.

Houston, on the other hand, has plenty of weapons. DeShaun Watson can throw to DeAndre Hopkins, Demaryius Thomas, and Keke Coutee, who has stepped up nicely replacing the injured Will Fuller.

Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue split work in the backfield, and they average the 10th most rushing yards per game. The Tennessee defense has been solid this year, ranking 10th in total yards allowed per game at 335. However, this defense is nothing too special and DeShaun Watson should be able to pick it apart. Look for Hopkins to prove why he is one of the best receivers in the game and have a big game.

Titans vs. Texans Prediction

Houston enters the game -3.5. Houston’s defense will be able to shut down the struggling Titans offense. Also, Houston’s offense should be able to be successful against this Titans defense who allowed 38 points last week. The Texans may be able to put up a similar number if they don’t settle for field goals again like they did last week. Take Houston to win by at least a touchdown.

  • Bet on the Texans at -2.5

  • Bet on the Titans at +3.5
