MLB Betting Preview: Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners

The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners are set to wrap up a three-game series on Sunday afternoon. The Angels and Mariners have developed a nice rivalry throughout the years, and there is no love lost when these teams square off. Both teams are likely to be sellers at the 2019 trade deadline as they are both out of the playoff race.

The Mariners won the series opener on Friday night by a score of 10-0, and Mike Leake nearly threw a perfect game, but the Angels bounced back with a win Saturday night. The Mariners’ record is just 40-61 on the season, good enough for last place in the AL West. The Angels have now lost three out of four games heading into Sunday. Los Angeles is just two games over the .500 mark at 51-49 heading into the series finale. The Seattle Mariners are -130 over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

Angels Offense Struggling of Late

The Los Angeles Angels were scoring runs like crazy before the All-Star Break, but that hasn’t been the case in the last week. The Angels almost got no-hit in the series opener on Friday night and scored just four combined runs in the four games before that. Mike Trout comes into Sunday with 31 home runs and 78 runs batted in and continues to be one of the best hitters in the American League. Kole Calhoun is having a solid season for LA as well and has chipped in with 21 home runs.

Veteran left-hander Andrew Heaney will be on the mound for the Angels in the series finale, and he has been struggling of late as well. Heaney comes into this game with a record of just 1-3 to go along with a 5.09 earned run average. His numbers against the Mariners this season haven’t been good either, and this could be another long bullpen game for the Angels.

Mariners Turn to Kikuchi in Finale

The Seattle Mariners don’t have a ton of pitching depth, but they have been getting good starting pitching of late. Rookie Yusei Kikuchi will be on the mound for the Mariners on Sunday, and he has gotten mixed results this season. Kikuchi comes into this game with a record of just 4-6 with a 5.01 earned run average. The left-hander has been roughed up by the Angels in his 15 innings against them this season.

Seattle traded away their best offensive player in Edwin Encarnacion earlier this season, and it really hurt their offense. First baseman Daniel Vogelbach has been having a monster season for the Mariners and leads the team with 23 home runs. Rightfielder Domingo Santana leads the team with a .274 batting average and 64 runs batted in. The Mariners will need to score runs in this game.

Mariners Win Series Finale

The Los Angeles Angels were hoping to make a late playoff push this season, but things have not gone well for them. Los Angeles just can’t find any consistent offense, and that is going to plague them again in this game. Bet the Seattle Mariners -130 over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
