Florida Gators at LSU Tigers Betting Preview

A battle of undefeated squads is going down on Louisiana on Saturday when the No. 5 LSU Tigers host the No. 7 Florida Gators, and the winning team will get a serious leg up in the race for a playoff spot. The season is flying by, with the Gators hoping they can keep it going, yet to have their bye week. Dan Mullen has been doing an exceptional job, his guys allowing fewer than 10 points per game, with half of the games played to this point. They will need to do a lot of scoring this week to have a good chance, though.

The Tigers, on the other hand, have been an offensive powerhouse, as they are scoring 54.6 points per game to lead the nation. They are surrendering just 19.5 per game, with Ed Orgeron doing an exceptional job thus far in 2019. When LSU hired him a few years ago, there really were not too many doubters, and the count of people who do not believe in him right now is somewhere between zero and zero.

The spread for this weekend’s matchup favors LSU by 13 points, while the over/under is set at 55 points.

Gators Try To Stay Unbeaten

The only thing that has not been going as well as the Gators would like would be the yardage totals on offense. Kyle Trask has taken over the quarterback duties from the injured Feleipe Franks, and he’s been solid, throwing for 881 yards and seven touchdowns. Lamical Perine is averaging 54 rushing yards per game to lead the way, something they really should not be too proud of and an area they are going to have to be better in. They have not had any breakout wide receivers yet, but look for Freddie Swain to emerge with a big performance.

Defensively, they have been led by Jonathan Greenard up front, leading the way with four sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. He and Shawn Davis (three interceptions, 111 total yards) have been the key playmakers so far. Look for them to come to play.

LSU Looking To Sneak Into Top Four

The top offense in the country is ready to prove it for another week. Joe Burrow has been slinging the ball at an impressive rate that puts him in the Heisman mix. He is completing 78.4 percent of his passes for 1,864 yards, 22 touchdowns and just three picks, with a passer rating of 216.2. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is averaging 5.5 yards per carry and has run the ball into the end zone on five occasions. Justin Jefferson has been the leading target for Burrow and looks to keep the magic coming.

Thirteen players have recorded at least a partial sack for the Tigers this year, but only Neil Farrell Jr. has more than 1.5. They will need him to lead the charge and try and put the Florida QB on the ground.
