Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Pick

On Sunday night, the Chicago Cubs will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles in the final game of their four-game series. The Dodgers have won two of the first three games and are 47-24 on the year, while the Cubs are 39-31.

Last Time Out

Yu Darvish was incredible Saturday night for the Cubs. He went seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out 10. The bullpen went the final two innings without giving up a run and allowed three hits and one walk and struck out two. Anthony Rizzo was the hero in this one as he hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to win the game for the Cubs. Kyle Schwarber and Addison Russell each recorded a hit and that was all as the Cubs only managed three hits in the game but somehow found a way to win it.

Walker Buehler was even better than Darvish. He went seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out six. Pedro Baez gave the Dodgers a scoreless inning before giving way to closer Kenley Jansen, who gave up the two-run homer to blow the game for the Dodgers. The Dodgers offense was also quiet and only managed to record five hits. Alex Verdugo accounted for the only Dodgers run as he hit a solo home run. Chris Taylor and David Freese each went 1 for 1, and both had pinch-hit singles. Max Muncy and Kike Hernandez recorded the other two hits for Los Angeles.

Cubs Hurler

Jose Quintana will start for the Cubs on Sunday night. He is 4-6 with a 3.89 ERA in 14 starts this year with a 1.31 WHIP and 69 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings. Last year, he went 13-11 with a 4.03 ERA in 32 starts. Only four Cubs players have faced Ryu in his career. Carlos Gonzalez is 5 for 12 with a home run. Jason Hayward is 2 for 10, Anthony Rizzo is 1 for 6, and Daniel Descalso is 1 for 2.

Dodgers Ace

Hyun-Jin Ryu will be on the mound for the Dodgers in this one and is one of the favorites to win the Cy Young so far this year. He is 9-1 with a 1.36 ERA in 13 starts. He has a 0.80 WHIP and 77 strikeouts in 86 innings. In his past eight starts, he has allowed just four runs over 58 2/3 innings. The Dodgers have not seen much of Quintana over his career. David Freese is 3 for 6, and Chris Taylor is 3 for 3. Justin Turner is 1 for 3 off the left-hander. Russell Martin is 0 for 6, and Kike Hernandez is 0 for 1 off Quintana.

Dodgers Get Win

The Dodgers are -180. Both of these teams are contenders to make a run at the World Series, but I think the Dodgers are just a step ahead of the Cubs. Also, the pitching matchup favors the Dodgers tremendously. Quintana has struggled all season long and has only had a couple of promising starts and will face a potent Dodger lineup. The Dodgers will send out Ryu, who has been the best pitcher in baseball this season. He has allowed fewer than 10 runs on the year and does not give up hits or walks as his WHIP is less than 1. Ryu will shut down the Cubs here and lead the Dodgers to victory. Take the Dodgers -180.
