Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

It has been an up-and-down season for the defending world champs, but when you look at how much the Boston Red Sox have struggled, being where they currently are is pretty impressive. They are in search of more wins of course, but after firing the GM who helped them build a champion and win three division titles, they are sending a serious message. They will settle for nothing less than constant dominance. They need to address the bullpen among other things this offseason.

Toronto, on the other hand, has been atrocious all season, but the future is looking very bright for them. The Blue Jays’ farm system is built impressively, and with their young guys leading them from the start in 2020, things could be much different than being 34 games under .500. There are still plenty of holes that these prospects cannot fill, but with the lineup they project to have on Opening Day, they could have an immediate turnaround.

Red Sox Looking To Find Their Luck

Unless they finish with basically a perfect record over the final three weeks of the season, there is roughly no chance for Red Sox to qualify for the postseason, The Wild Card race features three teams with over 82 wins all vying for two spots. They have had their moments this year but among the struggles and bad luck was Chris Sale having to go on IL last month and not being healthy enough to come off. Their bullpen is looking terrible, and though they have a surplus supply of elite hitters and power guys, it is not going to be enough for them. Fix the pen, address their bench bats. For next year, that is what they have to do.

Nathan Eovaldi is set to make his ninth start (20th appearance) for the Red Sox. After an impressive postseason, he has not been able to stay healthy this year, and he has disappointed when he has pitched. He is 1-1 with 5.77 ERA, having struck out 49 and walked 24 in 48 1/3 innings of work.

Blue Jays Try To Find Positives

Someway, somehow this organization managed to snag the sons of a number of baseball legends. They have Cavan Biggio, Vlad Guerrero Jr., and Bo Bichette. Each of them have been dominant all year since getting their chance considering that they had not played in the Majors before the season. They all have bright futures, and the three of them look to be the key to unlocking the future and making Toronto into a contender. They have to work on their pitching and will need some strong veteran presences here too.

TJ Zeuch is set to make his first start, with one appearance of four-innings of relief ball under his belt. It’s a good chance for the 23-year-old to show his stuff in front of the home fans.
