Braves Looking to Build on Success

The Braves used a huge 9th inning to steal the second game of the series on Saturday. They trailed 7-3 heading into the 9th and put up 5 runs to take the 8-7 victory. The Braves bullpen was the story in this one. Starter Touki Toussaint went just 1 1/3 innings and allowed 7 runs on 6 hits and a walk before being pulled. The bullpen came in and went 7 2/3 scoreless innings which kept them in the ballgame and eventually led to victory. Ronald Acuña Jr hit the go ahead double which was his only hit of the game. Ozzie Albies went 1 for 5 and had 2 RBI’s. Dansby Swanson went 1 for 3 with a home run and had 2 RBIs. Tyler Flowers went 2 for 3.

Max Fried will get the start for the Braves on Sunday. The left hander is 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA in 19 2/3 innings this season and has a WHIP of just 0.86. He has thrown just 79 1/3 innings in his career and is 4-5 with a 2.72 ERA. The Braves have not faced Bieber in his career. Ronald Acuña Jr is hitting .300 on the year. Nick Markakis is hitting .333. Freddie Freeman is at .293 and Ozzie Albies is at .282.

Indians With Bieber on Hill

Shane Bieber will get the start for the Indians in this one. The young right hander has been impressive so far this season. He is 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in 21 innings and has 22 strikeouts. Last season was his 1st big league season and he went 11-5 with a 4.55 ERA in 19 starts. The Indians have not faced Max Fried in his career. Carlos Santana is hitting .397 and Carlos Gonzalez is hitting .278. Jose Ramirez is off to a terrible start and is hitting just .158.

Trevor Bauer gave the Indians a great start in this one. He went 6 1/3 innings and gave up just 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10. However, the bullpen was horrendous and could not get the job done. They went 2 2/3 innings and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits. Jake Bauers had the lone extra base hit for Cleveland with a double and went 1 for 3 with 2 walks and 2 RBIs. Jose Ramirez went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Carlos Gonzalez went 2 for 4 and Leonys Martin went 1 for 3. Francisco Lindor went 1 for 5 in his 1st game of the season returning from injury.

Indians Take Finale

The Indians are -115. Both of these young starters have enjoyed wonderful starts to the season. Neither pitcher has any experience against their opponents tonight which is good for them. Bieber is a little more season as he had almost 20 starts last season. Cleveland’s bats have been quiet early but got a boost with the return of Francisco Lindor. The Indians hit lefties well as they have many switch hitters. I think they get to Fried early and get to tee off against a tired Braves bullpen that went nearly 8 innings last night. Take the Indians -115.
