Patriots Coming in Strong

The Patriots are coming off a thrilling 37-31 overtime victory against the Chiefs at Arrowhead 2 weeks ago. This game went back and forth in the 4th quarter before the Pats prevailed in overtime. Tom Brady didn’t have the greatest game, going 30 for 46 for 348 yards and 1 touchdown to go with 2 interceptions. Sony Michel had an incredible game, turning 29 carries into 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rex Burkhead also found the end zone twice on the ground. Julian Edelman was Tom Brady’s top target once again, catching 7 passes for 96 yards. Rob Gronkowski caught 6 passes for 79 yards, and Phillip Dorsett had the only receiving touchdown for New England.

The Rams are coming off a 26-23 overtime victory in New Orleans 2 weeks ago. The Rams caught a break with a missed pass interference call to earn the trip to Atlanta. Jared Goff had a quiet game, going 25 for 40 for 297 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. CJ Anderson was the main runner for the Rams but gained just 44 yards on 16 carries. Todd Gurley saw just 5 touches the entire game and had 10 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brandin Cooks caught 7 passes for 107 yards, and Josh Reynolds had 4 catches for 74 yards. Greg Zuerlein was the hero in this one, going 4 for 4 on field goals including a 48 yarder to send it to overtime and a 57-yard bomb to win it in OT.

Brady, Goff Will Face Off

Tom Brady has had an average year, throwing for 4355 yards and 29 touchdowns versus 11 interceptions. Sony Michel has been the key piece in the backfield. Michel had 209 carries on the year for 931 yards and 6 touchdowns and lost 1 fumble. Julian Edelman has led the Patriots in receiving with 74 catches for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns. On offense, the Patriots ranked 4th in points per game with 27.3 and 5th in total yards with 393.4 a game. The defense had a bend-but-don’t-break mentality, ranking 21st in yards allowed with 359.1 but were 6th in points allowed with just 20.3

Jared Goff had a great season, throwing for 4688 yards and 32 touchdowns versus 12 picks. Todd Gurley came out strong to start the season but faltered late while battling injuries. On the year, Gurley compiled 1251 yards on 256 carries and scored 17 touchdowns with zero lost fumbles. Robert Woods led the LA receiving corps with 1219 yards on 86 catches. Woods had 6 touchdowns and dropped just 1 pass all season long. On offense, the Rams were even better than New England. They ranked 2nd in both points and total yards with 32.9 and 421.2, respectively. The defense was not so great. They ranked 20th in points allowed with 24 and 19th in yards allowed with 358.6.

Super Bowl 53 Prediction

The Patriots come in at -2.5. Both teams come in matched pretty evenly on both sides of the ball. The difference in this one will no doubt be the experience. The Rams have a young coach and young quarterback that have not been here before. The Patriots have been here numerous times and will not be phased by the big stage. The ‘GOAT’ Tom Brady will have a great game and will take care of the ball and Bill Belichick will be the X-factor in this one. The Patriots win this one by a touchdown. Take New England -2.5.

  • Bet on the Patriots -2.5
