The tournament took place in Casino de Marrakech, which is one of the vital parts of the Es Saadi Resort. Kebe played with a lot of vigor but had to settle for the 2nd place which brought him 950,000 MAD.

Sonny Franco is not an inexperienced player. In fact, this is the fourth gold ring that he managed to win by playing in the World Series of Poker Circuit events. Furthermore, this is Franco’s second ring on a Main Even in WSOP Circuit, as he managed to win the first one in the WSOP Circuit Main Event in Cannes which took place back in March 2018. This event saw a total 544 players who took part and managed to set a new record for this event when it comes to the number of entries.

The Results of the Final Table

Apart from Sonny Franco and Jimmy Kebe, who seized the first and the second place respectively, a total of nine players played in the final table and entered the money list. Julien Robert from France was third and won 650,000 MAD, and he was followed by Edoardo Mortera from Italy, who won a total of 480,000 MAD.

Furthermore, the fifth place was occupied by a Moroccan called Najib Bennis (365,000 MAD), and the sixth place belongs to Hassan Fares from France (283,000 MAD). Finally, the last three places in the final table belonged to Isabel Baltazar from France, Brahin Hajji from the UK, and Abdelhamid El Khayati from France.

The Heads-up Play – Last Hand

After playing for 16.5 hours straight, the two best and most persistent players started the heads-up part of the game. Kebe started with a significantly lower number of chips but managed to even the things out shortly after that.

In the last hand, he had pocket nines and Franco had pocket fives. However, Franco was lucky enough to hit another five on the turn, and that was enough for him to win the last hand and win the event as well.

Sonny Franco is currently located on the 42nd place in the French All-Time Money list, and on the 1275th place in the world’s All-Time Money list. On the other hand, he has had a very successful period behind him and is currently 81st on the Global Poker Index Ranking.
