WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic – Dylan Linde Wins!

We are reaching the end of another year and many things are wrapping up, including the World Poker Tour, which ended up with a XVII WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic and required a buy-in of $10,000. The tournament took place at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. A total number of players who signed up for this competition was 1,001 which is a pretty high number considering the amount needed for the buy-in. In fact, this tournament managed to break some records, and the most important one is the number of players. In other words, this is the highest number of entrants for a $10k tournament ever.

The tournament lasted for five intensive days and a poker professional called Dylan Linde managed to take the victory, winning the highest sum of his career – $1,631,486. Furthermore, he was awarded a $15,000 seat for the Baccarat Crystal Tournament of Champions.

Linde was already a poker millionaire before this tournament, having a total of $2,031,685 in lifetime earnings. His prior best was $348,269 that he managed to win at the 206 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond. Apart from that, he also managed to snatch several other six-figure scores, the highest one being of $140,900 when he ended up on the eighth place in the 2015 PCA.

The players who took part in this tournament managed to create an amazing prize pool – $9,707,700. Some players who did well and made it to the pay list but did not make it to the final table are Noe McKeehen, Andre Akkari, Calvin Anderson, Nick Pupillo, Antonio Esfandiari, Erik Seidel, Nick Pietrangelo, and Joe Hachem.

The final table began with some really great action, mainly seen from a player from Serbia called Milos Skrbic. He was the chip leader when the final table action started and managed to make his first elimination after 37 hands. The first player to go out on the sixth place was Barry Hunter, soon followed by Lisa Hamilton.

The fourth place was reserved for Pin Liu, and Andrew Lichtenberger ended up third. The heads-up play was between Dylan Linde and Milos Skrbic. Linde had a small lead in chips at the beginning, and the two players clashed 35 times before everything was concluded. The last hand was pretty intense with Skrbic going all in on pocket fives against two jacks that Linde had in his hand. Skrbic ended up second and won a total of $1,087,603, making it to the third place on Serbia’s all-time money list with a total of $1,570,680 earned. Needless to say, this was Skrbic’s biggest success ever and the biggest tournament cash that he has ever won.

The next WPT event will take place on January 12, and it will require a $10,000 buy-in as well. It will take place at the Gardens Casino.
