Triton Million: Zang Wins; Kenney Earns More as Runner-Up

Triton Million was the main focus of the entire poker community for the last couple of days as it involved some of the most popular poker players in the world getting together and competing for some really big prizes. The buy-in for the Main Event of this tournament was £1,050,000, which meant that only a chosen few were able to afford to participate in it. Some of them were wealthy businessmen who were also recreational poker players, while others were professionals who had already earned a lot of money by playing poker worldwide.

The total number of entries was 54, and they managed to create a prize pool which was £54 million, with £2.7 million going to charity. However, only one player was good enough to win the trophy, and that was one of the best players from China, Aaron Zang. After three days of intense poker hands and great poker action, he was able to top the field and win this prestigious event.

Let’s Make A Deal

Despite his win, Zang was not the one to win the biggest share of the enormous prize pool. In fact, it was another player who won the most money, and that was Bryn Kenney. Namely, when the two players entered the heads-up part of the play, they made a deal, even though Kenney was an obvious chip leader at the time.

They agreed that they should share the money, with £16,890,509 going to Kenney and £13,779,491 to Zang. Converted to dollars, Kenney won a total of $20,537,000 in the Main Event of the Triton Million.

The trophy of the tournament was presented by Paul Phua, who is also a co-founder of the Triton Million. Zang was unable to hide his happiness, stating that the entire thing felt like a dream come true. Applause filled the entire arena as his friends cheered for him and surrounded him after the victory.

Phua made a short speech, congratulating Zang on his victory, remembering the cash games they used to play back in Macau for a long time. Phua stated that Zang was not a tournament player and that his victory showed that non-professionals could win as well.

The Final Table Results

The first player to hit the rail at the final table was Timothy Adams from Canada in eighth place, winning £1,400,000. He was soon followed by Alfred DeCarolis in seventh place for £1,720,000. Bill Perkins was sixth, winning a total of £2,200,000, and Vivek Rajkumar from India followed soon after for £3,000,000.

Fourth place was won by Stephen Chidwick, who managed to earn “just” £4,410,000, and Dan Smith ended up third with a total of £7,200,000 in his pocket, leaving Kenney and Zang to compete for the trophy.
