Toby Lewis Earns Aussie Millions Main Event First-Place Win

The 2018 Aussie Millions No-Limit Hold’em Main Event finished up yesterday with a total of 800 players competing. The event had a buy-in of $10,600 AUD and with so many players taking part, the tournament saw its largest turnout ever. In the end, it was Toby Lewis who earned the first-place finish, taking home just over $1.4 million AUD.

On the final day of the Main Event, Lewis would start the day with the chip lead. Lewis would end up knocking out Michael Del Vecchio in fifth place during the last day, to secure an even larger chip lead. Del Vecchio was all-in with Q-5 of spades against Lewis 10-6 of clubs. The board fell A-10-6-J-8 giving Lewis the hand and sending his fellow poker pro home.

Chul-Hyon Park would be eliminated in fourth place and by this time, the chip stacks had evened out somewhat. The final three players would be Lewis, Stefan Huber and Espen Solaas. The three players would decide to cut a deal which gave Lewis the most cash based on chip stack at $1,383,198 AUD. Solaas was given $1,177,103 AUD and Huber would be taking home $909,699 AUD. This left $75,000 AUD to be given to the winner plus the title of course.

Solaas would be eliminated in third by pocket kings of Lewis, which left the pro and Huber in heads-up play. It would take just 16 hands for Lewis to earn the win and remaining cash. On the final hand, Lewis would earn trip queens for the win, sending Huber home in second place.
