PokerStars and WPT Team Up to Create New Championship

The PokerStars Championship WPT MonteDam Swing is a new event created by PokerStars and the World Poker Tour to create a unique gaming opportunity for poker players. The MonteDam Swing will combine two events, one from PokerStars and one from the WPT. The Monte Carlo Casino will be hosting the first portion, the PokerStars Championship, which will run from April 25^th to May 5^th. The second part of the championship will be the WPT Amsterdam, which will take place form May 5^th to the 13^th.

CEO of the World Poker Tour, Adam Pliska, commented on the new championship by stating that for years, PokerStars and the WPT have collaborated behind the scenes to ensure that major events are scheduled in the best interest of players. The two are now taking their collaboration one step further by creating the PokerStars Championship WPT MonteDam Swing.

The two events will feature a combined prize total of €32.5 million with players having the ability to earn more prizes via qualifying events. There will be four qualifying events on offer. The first will be the PokerStars National Championship Monte Carlo, running from April 26^th to the 30^th, with a €1,100 buy-in. The second will be the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo Main Event, running from April 29^th to May 5^th and having a €5,300 buy-in. Players can also qualify via the WPT DeepStacks Amsterdam event from May 5^th to the 8^th or the WPT Amsterdam Main Event running form the 9^th to the 13^th. These events have buy-ins of €1,500 and €3,300 respectively.

The top five finishers of the leaderboard after the WPT Amsterdam is completed will earn the added prizes from PokerStars/WPT. First place will take home a Main Event package to the PokerStars Championship Barcelona while second place earns a WPT Main Event package. Third will take home a WPT DeepStacks package and fourth will earn the buy-in to the PokerStars National Championship Barcelona and a hotel voucher. Fifth earns the buy-in to a WPT DeepStacks event.

Players will be eligible for such prizes if they finish in the money in each location of the PokerStars Championship WPT MonteDam Swing. On top of that, any player who takes part in at least one PokerStars or WPT tournament during the Championship will be given an online ticket to participate in a PokerStars freeroll with $30,000 in total prize money up for grabs.
