NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets

The Golden State Warriors will host the Houston Rockets for game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. The series is currently tied up at 1-1 after the Houston Rockets defeated the Warriors 127-105 in game 2. Games 3 and 4 will take place at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

The Warriors made a statement with their series opening win, but the Rockets, the NBA’s best regular season team, answered back in game 2. Both of these teams like to shoot three pointers and the team that makes the most of them will likely win the series. Houston made 16 three’s in game 2 to just 9 for the Warriors. The Warriors are -7.0 over the Rockets in game 3.

Curry Must Get Going for Warriors

Former MVP, Stephen Curry, has struggled mightily through the first two games of this series on both ends of the floor. The Rockets are attacking Curry on isolation plays, and Curry looks to be a step slow on that end of the floor. Offensively is where the Warriors really need Curry to shine, but he was just 1-8 from deep in the game 2 loss. If Curry isn’t able to find his shooting stroke soon, the Warriors might be in trouble.

Kevin Durant has done his best to step up for the Warriors. Durant poured in 38 points in the game 2 loss, after scoring 37 points in the series opener. The Rockets have yet to find a defender who can stop Durant, and Durant should continue to have his way with the Rockets in game 3.

Houston Can Get Hot from Deep

After getting blown out in game 1, the Houston Rockets were able to win game 2 by shooting lights out from deep. The Rockets knocked down 16 three pointers in the win, and it was PJ Tucker and Eric Gordon who did most of the damage from deep. The duo combined to shoot 11-15 from three point range, and created open space for James Harden to operate. If the Rockets can knock down shots with consistency, they have a great chance to knock off the Warriors.

James Harden continues to dominate the basketball for the Rockets, but was able to find open teammates more in game 2. The Warriors are not going to let Harden beat them by himself, and he must rely on his teammates to have his back. Harden took 15 three point shots in game 2, but must cut back on this number if the Rockets are going to win game 3.

Splash Brothers Lead Warriors to Win

This series features two very competitive teams that can both get hot at anytime from deep. The Rockets has the NBA’s best home record during the regular season, but now must prove they can beat the Warriors on the road. If the Rockets continue to shoot the ball well, they will have a great shot in game 3.

The Warriors have been in these situations before, and they know that they need to take care of business in games 3 and 4. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are going to break out of their shooting slumps eventually, and it should happen at home in game 3. The trio of Durant, Curry, and Thompson will prove to be too much for the Rockets. The Warriors win going away, bet the Golden State Warriors -7.0 over the Rockets in game 3.
