South Korea got its first open event bracelet winner in an official WSOP event. Sejin Park managed to win the second bracelet this summer, meaning that South Korea got pretty good players this year. The event that Park managed to take down was Event #61: COLOSSUS – $400 No-Limit Hold’em. He played for less than five hours and a total of 125 before he topped the field and won. The field was 13,109-entry strong, and the amount of money that Park took home was $451,272.
The entries created a massive prize pool which was $4,391,515. The main opponent in the heads up that challenged Park was Georgios Kapalas from Greece, who took home a consolation prize of $278,881.
Park was pretty amazed that he was the first player to win a bracelet for South Korea in an open event. He stated that he had had no idea that he had been the first, adding that his friend Jiyoung Kim won a ladies event in this year’s WSOP. He concluded that the fact that he was the first to win the bracelet made him even happier.

Park’s main place to play poker is Macau, where he enjoys playing cash games. He is not that often a part of big tournaments, especially not the ones that happen far away from Macau. Nevertheless, he took part in the 50th Annual World Series of Poker and won cash, which is way more than the cashes he earns in cash games. He stated that he hadn’t expected to win the tournament due to the fact that there had been more than thirteen thousand entries.
Results of the Final Table
The final table consisted of nine players, and the first one to hit the rail was Diego Lima from Brazil, who won a total of $41,965. The players then packed up and called it a day, only to return on the last day and fight their way to the top.
Maksim Kalman was the next one to go out. He ended up in the eighth position with a total of $53,925. The next one to follow was Patrick Miller for $69,757. Norson Saho, another player from Brazil, ended up in sixth place and won a total of $90,838, and he was followed by US player Andrew Barber, who ended up fifth for $119,072.
Juan Lopez was fourth and won $157,106, and he was soon followed by Ryan Depaulo in third place, who won $208,643, leaving the Greek and the South Korean to fight for the first prize. The heads-up play did not last very long as Park had a significant advantage. Only after 13 hands did Park manage to fight his way through and receive the golden bracelet. Park now plans to take a shot at the Main Event trophy, meaning he is going to stay in the US for a couple of more days and test his skills and luck.
