It’s been less than two weeks, and we are already more than seventeen events in, with seventeen bracelet winners behind us. The latest person to win such a trophy in the 50th Annual World Series of Poker is Brett Apter, who managed to win the Event #17: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout. The field consisted of 917 players, and Apter managed to outlast all of them, winning a total sum of $238,824. This amount of money is the biggest he has won so far at the WSOP tournaments.

It was not an easy task for Brett Apter to get to the first place. In order to make his dream come true, he had to face some of the best players of poker in the world. In fact, one of the most intense battles were between Apter and Erik Seidel when they faced in the heads-up play in Round 2. Seidel is one of the legendary poker players who won a gold bracelet at WSOP tournaments eight times. However, it wasn’t really his day when he stumbled upon Brett Apter, who made him hit the rail.
Apter did not hesitate to show his emotions either during the tournament or afterward when he celebrated his victory. He stated that he felt like he was in a dream, as a gold bracelet was all he had ever wanted, ever since he had started playing the game of poker. Furthermore, Apter added that ever since he had won in the day before the final day, and he had managed to advance to the last day of the tournament, he had known that the feeling was real. He concluded that he had been trying to enjoy every moment of the final table as much as possible.
The Final Day
At the start of the final day, Apter was actually short on chips. However, that soon disappeared in an exciting hand where Anatolii Zyrin, Shintaro Baba, and Apter went a three-way all in. His opponents had ace-king, while Apter had double aces. He eliminated Baba in the seventh place, but Zyrin turned out to be his main opponent in the heads-up play in this event.
In the final table, Marko Maher from Slovenia was in tenth place and won a total of $15,331. He was followed by Kenna James in ninth place and Michael O’Grady in eighth. James won $19,436, while O’Grady won $24,973. As previously mentioned, Shintaro Baba, a poker player from Japan, ended up in seventh place for $32,517. The sixth place was reserved for Cary Katz, who won $42,897, and Manuel Ruivo from Portugal ended up in fifth place for $57,326. Adrian Scarpa won $77,591 as the fourth-place player, and Tommy Nguyen ended up third for $106,351. Anatolii Zyrin won $147,594 in the second place, having lost the heads-up play to Brett Apter.
