Black Chip Poker moved from the Winning Poker Network yesterday and all things considered, the move was as smooth as possible. There are some minor issues but nothing like we have seen from other online poker rooms that move from one network to another.
There are some minor bugs. Most of these bugs are expected to be resolved in the next 24 hours.
Players that had a username over 20 characters were forced to change their username. This is due to a length restriction on the Winning Poker Network. These players were issued abbreviated usernames.
Players that changed their email address since first creating their Black Chip Poker account were unable to login with their current email addresses. Once this was realized some players were able to log into Black Chip Poker with their old email addresses while others are waiting to get the issue resolved to play.
Some players are missing cashout options. Some U.S. players are missing checks as a withdrawal option while some players outside the U.S. are missing Neteller and Moneybookers. This is expected to be resolved tonight.
The software has several links within it that are supposed to point to Black Chip Poker. Some of those links are not working but should start working shortly.
Players that had earned VIP Points on Merge expected to receive a comparable rate for them on Winning Poker. There was an error in the conversion that is being resolved.
Merge Gaming uses tournament tickets while Winning Poker uses tournament bucks. These are still being converted and should be finished soon.
The support email support@blackchippoker.eu was not working at first. This seems to be resolved now as the new email hosting has been setup.
One player complained that his maximum withdrawal limit was lowered from $10,000 to $8,000. A Black Chip Poker representative made the point that since cashouts take days instead of weeks this is actually an improvement. In fact, cashout speeds are expected to be at least three times faster across all methods.
All of the above issues are minor, especially compared to some recent migrations we have seen where sites were down for days or borderline inoperable. This looks to be a great move by Black Chip Poker. Traffic on the Winning Poker Network is up 20% as a result of this move.
Traffic on Merge is a little bit down since the move, however, brands like Carbon Poker are still going strong.
