Akin Tuna Wins First Tournament – EPT No-Limit Hold’em in Prague

Akin Tuna managed to win his first live tournament called €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em which was a part of the 2018 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague. The event started on the very first day of the tour and Tuna topped the field of only 38 players. Nevertheless, he gave us some exciting poker time and snatched the biggest part of the prize pool which was €125,330.

It was about time for Tuna to finally win a live event because he had had two near misses in the recent past. He participated in two tournaments and was very close to snatching the title, but ended up second. One of those tournaments was also an EPT one called 2012 EPT Dublin €10,300 High Roller. Before he won this tournament, Tuna’s live cash score was $725,000.

Tuna was able to see how close he was to becoming a winner when he faced Sam Panzica in the event in Dublin. However, he lacked a bit more skill and luck which seems that the had gained over time. Nevertheless, the Dublin event can be considered a success for Tuna who managed to do better than the likes of Daniel Dvoress and Davidi Kitai who were also a part of the final table back then.

The final table consisted of six players which immediately began with amazing action. The first one to drop out was Thomas Boivin from Belgium who ended up sixth. The player from Turkey called Orpen Kisacikoglu was next to follow as he lost to the runner-up Ognyan Dimov, who had tens against Kisacikoglu’s pocket fives.

The player who was busted in the fourth place was Daniel Dvoress from Canada who has a king-queen only to face Tuna’s ace-queen. As soon as he dropped out, Tuna gained approximately 60% of the chips which gave him a significant advantage in the three-way play.

The three remaining players were David Kitai, Ognyan Dimov, and Akin Tuna. Kitai was the next one to go and Tuna did a great job once again with his play, thus leaving only him and Dimov in the heads-up play.

The heads-up was pretty exciting as Dimov managed to even the number of chips in the beginning. However, Tuna was on fire and managed to wrap things up in just a couple of hands. In the most important hand, Tuna managed to flop a top set and even had quads on the turn, against the straight from Dimov. During this hand, Dimov lost almost all chips and had to go down just one hand after that. He immediately congratulated Tuna on his first live win.

This was just the first event of the EPT Prague, and a lot more will follow soon. One of the interesting events is $1,100 EPT National which already has more than 1,000 entries just in the 1b flight. Stay tuned for more news about EPT Prague and great poker that is currently being played there.
