The Temporary Cyprus Casino Opened by Melco International

After striking the deal to open a great casino in Cyprus, Melco International Development was not patient enough to wait for it to be built. In order to provide entertainment to the visitors and the locals as soon as possible, they planned to open up a temporary smaller casino which will serve its purpose until the bigger one opens.

According to Cyprus Mail, this event has finally happened not a full month after it was announced and the temporary casino has been opened up. It costed a total of $15 million to built and the first guests walked down the red carpet on Thursday.

Another reason why this casino opened was to give everyone a notion of how the new casino that is being built will look like. In other words, Melco International built this casino in order to prepare everyone for their future casino which will have great standard and the excellent quality of service apart from being enormous and having hundreds of slots and tables. This was a promise made by Craig Ballantyne, who is the current president of an organization that will be in charge of this project on Cyprus called City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casino.

According to Ballantyne, this temporary casino currently occupies a space of 4,600 square meters and it is, in essence, a building that was once supermarket in Limassol but was renovated to be a casino. It currently offers 33 tables and 242 slot machines. Furthermore, there is a VIP gaming area, a restaurant and there are even two bars where the customers can buy food and drinks.

Furthermore, this casino will be able to accommodate a total number of 1,000 customers and there will be 593 employees in total. Melco Executive states that 75 of them will be Cypriots.

This is not the only casino which is planned before the opening of the City of Dreams Mediterranean resort, which will be the name of the planned big casino resort. In fact, there will be a total of five smaller casinos (or as they are called – satellite gaming facilities). The total cost of their construction will be $637 million.

According to Lawrence Ho, these temporary casinos are planned to open in Paphos and Nicosia by the end of 2018. The places Larnaca and Famagusta will also get their temporary casinos which will open during 2019. When it comes to the City of Dreams Mediterranean, its grand opening is planned for 2021.

This project is actually the first Melco project that is not located in Asia. The CEO of Melco Resort & Entertainments currently takes pride in another two great casinos which are among the most successful in the world – City of Dreams venue in Macau and in Manila. Melco is given a license to start building in Cyprus in June and they will basically have a monopoly on this island-country for the next 30 years.
