Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh Gets Approval for Provisional Sportsbook

Reportedly, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh received a tentative approval for sportsbetting services, which means that they will be able to start offering this very soon. In fact, the venue is hoping to be able to start with the sportsbetting on the first day of December. This would be a huge jump for the casino and sportsbetting in Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Wednesday that the Game Control Board from Pennsylvania gave a provisional authorization. The casino, which is owned by Rush Street Gaming, agreed on a sum of $10 million. This is a figure that they had to pay in order to receive the license for betting on sports. They are now under the final approval process and will begin operating shortly and offering the sports betting enthusiast a lot of new and fun options. In other words, the residents of Pittsburgh (and Pennsylvania for that matter) will have an excellent choice for betting on their favorite sports.

Furthermore, according to the newspaper, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh hopes to include various pre-match and in-play wagers which would include a wide variety of professional and college sports. December 1 is set as their deadline, and they should utilize a temporary facility on that day that would be the place for betting lovers until they came up with a permanent solution. The temporary facility is already under construction and it is very near the “high-limit” gaming area. Their permanent solution, however, is to move their lounge closer to the casino center on the casino floor and build permanent and larger facility for betting on sports.

Also according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the casino’s interim sportsbook will feature a total of 98 seats along with 15 big televisions mounted on a wall. These TVs will be placed alongside the cashier counter which was previously not really used for anything. The whole area is planned to be about 3,000 sq ft and it will also include kiosk for self-service betting and a bar which will feature poker games.

Rush Street Gaming owns a couple of casinos, and the one in Pennsylvania is not the only their casino to receive a sports betting license. In fact, they also have a casino in Philadelphia called SugarHouse Casino which also received interim approval for a sportsbook.

Great Place to Play

All in all, the move that Rush Street Gaming made for Rivers Casino Pittsburgh is marked as excellent by many professionals from the betting industry. The main reason for that is the fact that the casino is just several hundred yards away from Heinz Field which is the stadium for the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers and has a total of 68,000 seats. In other words, people will drop by in big groups to place bets on their favorite teams on their way to the stadium. It is expected that this will bring huge profit to the casino.
