Johnny Manziel, the quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies and recent Heisman Trophy winner, celebrated the win over the Oklahoma Sooners after the Cotton Bowl by visiting the WinStar World Casino Resort located in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Manziel helped the team defeat the Sooners 41 to 13 and decided to hit the gambling tables to celebrate. The player had a wad of cash that was flashed during the night and this caused the player to be heavily criticized by several Twitter users.
Manziel is twenty years of age and legally allowed to visit the casino since casinos in Oklahoma are open to those eighteen and older. However, a large group of people were unaware of this fact and as Johnny Football posted tweets on Twitter during the experience, he sparked a major controversy.
Manziel posted pictures of himself and friends at the casino with cash fanned out in stacks of bills with the caption: “Casino ballin!” Manziel was then subject to backlash of those on Twitter and he ended up deleting the photo and posted the following message:
“Nothing illegal about being 18+ in a casino and winning money…KEEP HATING!”
The casino was happy about ‘Johnny Football’ being at the casino and even posted on their Twitter about Manziel visiting the casino. The player apparently earned the money while playing the game of roulette and the casino quickly joined Manziel on Twitter by stating:
“Heyyyyyy!! Have fun and good luck! “@JManziel2: Winstar wasssuppp!”
The casino was happy to have Manziel, the first freshman in the NCAA to ever win the Heisman and Manziel had a good time. Nothing illegal took place and it seems those anyone who even thought something was up, would have checked the rules at the Oklahoma casinos before posting negative comments on Twitter.
