Jeremy Gaubert Wins World Poker Open in Tunica

It looked as though Chris Moneymaker was a shoe-in to win the 2009 World Poker Open in Tunica, Mississippi on Tuesday as he had a huge chip lead but it was not to be. Moneymaker would lose his massive chip lead and go down in third while Jeremy Gaubert would go home with the win.

The event was held at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica and had a buy-in of $5k. by day two of the event Moneymaker held a strong lead of close to forty percent of the chips in play. it looked good for Moneymaker at the final table until Steve Hamontree busted Thomas Creel in fifth to gain the lead in four handed play.

Moneymaker soon found himself with a very small chip stack after Jeremy Gaubert took him down a notch with his ace-queen. Chad Brown would go down in fourth before Moneymaker would be knocked out when his competitor got a flush.

This would lead Steve Hamontree a business owner from Chattanooga and Jeremy Gaubert in heads up play.
