Full Tilt Poker Announces November’s FTOPS X, $15m GTD Schedule

October 20, 2008

Full Tilt Poker, one of the largest online poker rooms in the world, is famous for a lot of things, and right at the top of that list is the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). Now in its 10th installment, Full Tilt has announced the schedule for FTOPS X, coming up in November and structured to pay out a minimum of $15 million over 25 events.

The 11-day FTOPS X series will begin November 5th with Event #1, a $200+$16 6-Max No Limit Hold’em tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000. Events #9 and #11 will also feature excessive purses of $1.5 million, while Event #22 raises the bar to a whopping $2 million guaranteed prize pool.

Rounding out the Full Tilt Online Poker Series will be the FTOPS X Main Event (#25), set to kick off at 4pm ET on Sunday, November 16th. The FTOPS X Main Event features a $500+$35 buy-in to the NL Hold’em tournament with full tables, no re-buys, no add-ons and a phenomenal purse of $2.5 million guaranteed. (See full FTOPS X Schedule below.)

Full Tilt Poker has been running its astoundingly popular Full Tilt Online Poker Series for about two years now, and the benefits seem to keep rising with each new installment. The first FTOPS featured a series of 9 events with an overall guarantee of $2 million. As the online poker community prepares for FTOPS X, the events line-up has more than double and the overall guarantee has increased more than 7 times over.

Full Tilt Poker is currently running satellite competition for each and every event of FTOPS X, including FTOPS X Main Event Satellites starting at $20+$20.

FTOPS IX Rides Into The Sunset: Full Tilt Poker Series Recap

    August 21, 2008

It was a short, but intensely thrilling 11-days at Full Tilt Poker as the ninth installment of the 25-event Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS IX) has closed its final chapter, locked the door and ridden off into the sunset – at least until FTOPS X rolls around next year (and the crowd goes wild!).

The largest kudos of the series has to go to ‘dubbeemin’, who took down the FTOPS IX Main Event on the final day. Battling it out with ‘valleyho’ in heads-up, dubbeemin held the clear lead of more than 3-to-1 in chips when the final hand played out. The Flop - 9c-7c-6d – gave both players a strong Flush Draw, with valleyho hiding Kc-10c and dubbeemin the Qc-Jc. The Turn brought Ad, no help for dubbeemin, but when Jd fell on the River, he paired up to take the pot, the 1st place prize of $432,400, and the esteemed FTOPS IX Championship Title.

The FTOPS IX Main Event victory was certainly an admirable accomplishment, but the MVP of the entire Full Tilt Poker series went to Kevin ‘GetPWN4D’ Saul, winning the FTOPS IX Leaderboard competition by 61 points. Saul started things off with a 4th place victory in Event #12, followed by a 10th place finish in Event #16 and 2nd place in Event #17 to give him the clear lead throughout the remainder of FTOPS IX, ending with 500 points.

Saul’s only rival on the FTOPS IX Leaderboards was Yuval ‘yuvee04’ Bronshtein who gave an astounding performance worthy of the record books by becoming the first player in Full Tilt Poker history to win back-to-back FTOPS events. Bronshtein finished 1st in Events #14 and #15, which – even more amazingly – started on the same day, at the same time. The latter being a turbo style tournament, you simply have to commend such devout concentration. Bronshtein earned 200 Leaderboard points for each win, boosting him to 439 as the series came to an end.

Last but not least, we have to mention the biggest single-cash prize winner of FTOPS IX who was not the winner of the FTOPS Main Event, as one may reasonably assume, but rather ‘hAAydon’, winner of FTOPS IX Event #22. With a $2,500+$120 buy-in, the 2-day event saw 942 entries trumping the original $2mil GP to $2,355,000 – enough to pay a top prize of $541,650 to hAAydon for routing the competition.

Congratulations to all of you FTOPS IX winners out there who earned a combined total of well over $15 million. As the excitement slowly flickers like a candle flame with depleting air supply, we say a fond farewell to FTOPS IX; and to Full Tilt Poker, please do hurry back with the next, anticipated installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series.

‘CapTinBisKuiT’ Strikes Again; Winner of FTOPS IX Event #3

      August 8, 2008

Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS IX (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) has seen a lot of twists and turns at the tables – and we’re only on the third event, I might add – but I must say I wasn’t too terribly surprised to see ‘CapTinBisKuiT’ emerge victorious last night. The intensely skilled poker player has earned himself more than $75,000 in the last three weeks - well over $200,000 over the past few months - in online poker tournament cashes.

Visit Full Tilt Poker FTOPS IXFull Tilt Poker’s ‘CapTinBisKuiT’ survived a field of 1,296 in last night FTOPS IX Event #3, NL Hold’em Shootout with 6-Max Tables. The prize pool, guaranteed at $250k, rose slightly to $259,200 with just a few more participants than necessary to cover the purse.

CapTinBisKuiT’ wiped out ‘THEROBBOB20’ in heads-up play to declare victory and the 1st place prize of $45,360. ‘THEROBBOB20’ was awarded $28,512 for the2nd place finish.

Less than 3 weeks ago, on July 20, ‘CapTinBisKuiT’ took 2nd place himself at the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance tournament, under the username ‘uncledrkmeat’. The 2nd place finish earned him $43,494. ‘uncledrkmeat’ is no stranger to the weekly PokerStars tournament, having done the exact same thing back in February for $32,100.

Turn your calendar pages once more to March 23, when ‘CapTinBisKuiT’ claimed his largest online poker cash, again from Full Tilt Poker, by triumphing over the weekly $750k GTD, worth $133,991.44.

FTOPS IX Event #2, $200k GTD Goes To Teledonk

        August 8, 2008

Full Tilt Poker is certainly the tournament hot-spot this week; having kicked off its 9th Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS IX) just two short days ago that’s already awarded more than $1.5 million to members of the online poker room. Yesterday, August 7th, FTOPS IX Event #2 was taken down by ‘Teledonk’ for a 1st place prize of more than $50k.Visit Full Tilt Poker FTOPS IX

The second FTOPS IX event got underway at 2pm as a field of 1,138 took to the tables, either by winning a Satellite or paying the direct buy-in of $240+$16. A Knockout Bounty style competition, the PL Omaha Hi-Lo tournament guaranteed a minimum prize pool of $200,000, boosted to $227,600 by the superfluous turnout.

The tournament began at 2pm, escalating blinds and skill levels over the next 7-1/2 hours until reaching blinds of $50/$100k before all was said and done.

Emergent suspense mounted as the final table was diminished; one by one, each player eliminated until at last, heads-up play came down to ‘Teledonk’ and ‘chicha62’. The imminent skills of both participants were fiercely apparent, but only one could prevail. In the end, it was ‘Teledonk’ claiming the final pot of victory, pocketing $51,210 for the amazing finish.

chicha62’ walked away with a wholesome payout of $32,443 for the 2nd place finish.
