Bodog Poker Client Updates To Resizable Tables At Last

August 6, 2008

Visit Bodog PokerOne of the most frequently requested updates to the Bodog Poker client by the online poker room’s many members has been a request for the addition of resizable poker tables. At last, after rigorous renovations and lengthy beta testing, players at Bodog Poker have finally been given their wish.

The recent update to the Bodog Poker software comes with a complete list of added customization abilities. The option to resize windows was of course added, along with the ability to detach chat windows and all game details.

The new resizable windows allow the player to increase or decrease the window to any size, limited only by the width and resolution of their monitor. Detachable features include the player chat, notes, stats, profiles and game/tournament information. This long-sought capability gives players the option to enjoy their online poker experience with as little clutter as possible.

The release of this new software update couldn’t have come at a better time as Bodog Poker is just getting ready to kick off its most lucrative guaranteed tournament in the history of the online poker room – a $250,000 GTD scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 10th. The new $250k GP will be replacing Bodog Poker’s original weekly $100k GP.

“Bodog is fully committed to offering our online poker players the most secure and enjoyable online gaming experience possible,” avowed CEO Alwyn Morris of the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, “and our new release delivers just this, giving players total control over how they enjoy the game. Bodog Poker players have been a part of the process from the beginning, and we’re excited to deliver the features they’ve asked for, like resizable game play windows and detachable chat windows. Players can look forward to even more features added in the very near future.

Just last November, Bodog Poker overhauled the software to present a new, more lustrous design with sleeker graphics and a much appreciated ‘spotlight’ that lightly glows over the player who’s up for action.

Bodog Poker has been continuously updating its poker client with perks like these for the past several months, giving players a steadily more enjoyable online poker experience while reassuring them that Bodog Poker is certainly listening and responding to their requests.

Bodog Poker has announced it is now hosting 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Qualifiers every day at the online poker room. The 2008 WSOPE Semifinals, scheduled for September 7th at Bodog Poker, guarantees at least 2 seats in the WSOP Europe Main Event.

Visit Bodog Poker - 2008 WSOPE QualifiersBodog Poker’s 2008 WSOPE Main Event prize package is worth $24,000 – about $20,000 to cover the buy-in (£10,000), plus round-trip airfare, stylish travel to and from the airport, luxury hotel accommodations, Team Bodog player gear and spending cash.

WSOPE Qualifiers have already begun at Bodog Poker, running daily for as little as $1 to enter. All qualifiers will send their respective winners on a trek towards the WSOPE Semi-final, where at least two players will be awarded the 2008 WSOPE Main Event prize package.

The 2008 WSOPE Main Event, No Limit Texas Hold’em, will run for 6 days, September 27th – October 2nd, at London Clubs International in London, England.

Last year, Bodog Poker sent Matt McCullough to the inaugural WSOP Europe Main Event via online qualifier competitions, and he made history by becoming the last remaining American player in the event. McCullough survived a field of 623 participants to finish in 3rd place, earning $766,674.

CEO of Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, Alwyn Morris shared his enthusiasm, “We’re excited to award our online qualifiers a prize package that allows them to live it up in London like they’ve already struck it rich, even before the first cards are dealt. We had an incredible run at last year’s tournament with one of our online qualifiers, Matt McCullough, finishing third, and we’re hoping to see Bodog back at the final table again—this time taking home the bracelet.”

QFX KeyScrambler Security Upgrade At Online Poker Rooms

July 24, 2008

A number of today’s most respected online poker rooms have just received a significant security upgrade that has resulted in elite confidentiality capabilities across the board. The upgrade comes from the integration of QFX Software’s new KeyScrambler, developed by a Floridian based security and financial software group.

The KeyScrambler was developed to prevent outside sources from keylogging, a known practice that records computer keystrokes to abduct logins and their respective passwords. KeyScrambler encrypts a user’s keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, decrypting them only once they’ve reached the secure application. As a result, keylogging programs are bypassed, receiving only the encrypted data that is completely undecipherable.

Being one of the most lucrative and fastest growing industries in the world, online poker rooms and their members are frequently subject to fraudulent keylogging programs. Therefore, it is only appropriate that this week’s release of the security shield by QFX should be implemented at such sites.

Major online poker rooms that have integrated the new QFX Software KeyScrambler include PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, Party Poker, Bodog Poker, PokerRoom, Doyels Rooms, UltimateBet Poker, Titan Poker, Players Only Poker, 24h Poker, Carbon Poker, Hollywood Poker, CD Poker, VC Poker and the entire Microgaming Network.

QFX is also providing KeyScrambler Personal, a free version of the software that users can download to protect all browser entries against keyloggers. The free edition encrypts anything a user types, from logins, passwords and pop-up text, right down to email messages and search terms. The QFX KeyScrambler Personal is currently compatible with Internet Explorer (IE), FireFox and Flock browsers.

July 23, 2008

Bodog Poker, one of the more popular online poker rooms that continues to accept US players, has made the headlines this week by awarding the very first seats in the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. As you probably know, the 2008 WSOP hasn’t even been completed, and yet next year’s event has 3 participants waiting in the virtual aisles.

Visit Bodog PokerAs the 2008 WSOP Main Event was winding down, Bodog Poker’s Mini Series – a series of tournaments designed to parallel the WSOP with 1/100 buy-ins – was also coming to a close. The Bodog Poker Mini Series final event came down to nine players, with the top 3 finishers winning a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

Now a part of Team Bodog, “pokerfanx789”, “dudix” and “Boswan” have become the very first online poker players to win a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Each will receive a $12,000 VIP prize package – $10,000 going to the 2009 WSOP Main Event buy-in, and the other $2,000 to cover travel, accommodations and extra spending cash.

The final event of the Bodog Mini Series featured a 27-seater tournament, made up of Bodog Poker’s top four Mini Series leaderboards competitors, eighteen players who qualified through semi-finals, and another 5 players who were wild-cards, randomly selected from all Bodog Poker members who competed in at least three Mini Series events.

Morris Mohawk Gaming Group’s CEO Alwyn Morris commented, “The three winners of our Bodog Poker Mini Series are guaranteed an experience like no other in Las Vegas as they compete for a shot at poker stardom and millions of dollars.”

The Bodog Poker Mini Series saw a total of 3,376 online poker players take to the tables, winning a grand total of $107,000 throughout the series.
