Betting Options for Red Sox vs Indians – Monday, August 15th, 2016

Major League Baseball

Betting Overview

The Red Sox will began a four-city road trip with a one-game series in Cleveland to make up for their game that was postponed on July 4th. This Monday matchup will feature 2 prominent pitchers from each club, both of which are fighting for better positions in the American League playoff picture. The Red Sox are coming off a complete drubbing of the Arizona Diamondbacks this past weekend, while the Indians have been crushing the ball on offense during their recent 4-game winning streak.

Boston Red Sox  (+1.5, -205)

The Red Sox are enjoying a 3-game win streak after they hammered the Arizona Diamondbacks 16-2 to sweep the series. Boston averaged 10.3 runs in that series and held Arizona to just 3 runs per game. Mookie Betts proved again why he should be considered a candidate for MVP as he hit three home runs and drove in a career-best eight runs. He’s not the only player with success at the plate, as Dustin Pedroia also collected five hits and Jackie Bradley Jr hit two home runs.

Drew Pomeranz has been winless in his last five starts for Boston, but he has been pitching better in his last two starts. Pomeranz held Seattle and the Yankees to just 3 runs in his last 11.1 innings of work. He will have to be at the top of his game to get ahead of this potent Cleveland offense.

Cleveland Indians (-1.5, +175)

The Indians are on a win streak of there own, as they have won four straight and seven of their last ten games. Cleveland’s offense has also come to life as they are averaging 9.25 runs per game in their last 4 games, with two of those games seeing their run count eclipse double digits.

Josh Tomlin will take the mound for the Indians, hoping to bounce back after getting roughed up in his last outing versus the Nationals. He lasted only 4 innings in that game, allowing seven runs on eight hits, while only striking out 4 batters. This was also the second game in a row that Tomlin hasn’t made it passed the fourth inning. He has allowed 14 runs in his last 8.5 innings of work and has now surrendered a league-leading 27 home runs this season.

Conclusion

We have both teams coming into this game with their win streak on the line. With Tomlin leading the MLB in HR’s allowed, it’s going to be interesting to see what the Red Sox and their dangerous bats have in store for him. On the flip side, the Indians have racked up a ridiculous amount of runs during their most current win streak. Either way, I feel there is definitely a lot of value betting the total in this one.
