The U.S. Offshore Online Poker Payment Processing Report is a monthly column that grades offshore poker sites that accept American players on their ability to process withdrawals. This is important information as payment processing to U.S. players has become difficult since Black Friday.

U.S. online poker sites offer several options to receive winnings. All sites offer checks as a withdrawal method. Most sites send payments by cash transfer services that includes Western Union. There are some other creative withdrawal options, such as credit card refunds and debit cards. There hasn’t been too many issues with cashouts via these methods; however, Bovada does experience issues with WU payouts every few months and normally offer check options as a substitute.

The report doesn’t go into too much detail just yet regarding legal online poker in states such as New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware; however, that could change. It’s a moot point in our report considering the deposit and cashout options are extremely fast and are the best in the industry — but ONLY if you actually live as a resident in one of these states. You cannot play at legal poker sites if you’re outside those state lines. As a reminder to our New Jersey and tri-state area visitors you can check out PartyPoker NJ and get a free $25 bankroll just for signing up and checking out the new software through 4Flush.com.

How Our Payment Report is Gathered

The report is compiled by John Mehaffey, an online poker media veteran. He monitors social media outlets and poker forums where players report this information. He also has contacts to representatives at many U.S.-facing sites.

The larger sites have ample reports from players through these methods. Some smaller sites report the information directly to him. In his experience, the information provided by the sites has always been truthful. Sites know that bad information will eventually be discovered and there are negative consequences for that.

Determining Payout Timeframes and Grades

Once he has the information, he compares each site to an average. Lock Poker dramatically lowers the average payout times. This gives an imbalance to the grades, making it so some sites that appear to be slower than the best still get a good grade.

Speed is not the only method used to determine a grade. Players want options. A site with just one method for withdrawal will score lower than one with many options. Players also expect a way to get free payouts. Most sites offer one free withdrawal per month to American players. Those that don’t cannot receive a grade above B+.

Poker Sites That Have Excelled With Cashouts

Since the inception of the report by John, USA-facing poker sites like Bovada, Intertops and Americas Cardroom have continually been given solid grades. These rooms have consistently had grades in the “A” and “B” range in the last 12 months, with Merge Gaming skins like Carbon Poker, PlayersOnly and Sportsbook.com have hovered around “B” and “C” averages in that same time frame.

Unfortunately, sites like the aforementioned Lock Poker cloud the processing report with continual “F” grades. Lock has payouts still pending from players who requested them well over a year ago. Fortunately there aren’t too many similar poker sites on our report that have had the worst possible grade but they will always be shown in a bitter light to ensure no future players waste their time on Lock.

Other USA online poker rooms that will be featured on the report will be BetOnline (Chico Network), Juicy Stakes (Revolution) and SealsWithClubs.eu (our only recommended US-facing bitcoin-friendly poker room).
