Timothy Adams Wins WSOP Event #28

Event #28 of the 2012 World Series of Poker was a $2,500 NLH Four-Handed event which saw 750 players competing. The event ran over three days and after eight players returned for final table play, Timothy Adams would outlast the field and win his first every World Series of Poker Gold Bracelet.

When final table play began, it would take less than one level of play for the field to be narrowed down to the last five contestants. The tournament would then move to the ESPN Feature Table which is located in the Amazon Room.

Players would continue for about a level and a half before another elimination would take place. Brendon Rubie and Greg Merson would go head to head and Rubie’s A-Q would hold up better than Merson’s A-K to give Rubie the hand and send Merson home in fifth place. The next elimination would be Anthony Gregg who would go all in preflop with A-3. Gregg was called by Rubie who held pocket deuces. Gregg would earn the cards and he would be out in fourth place.

Three handed play would then begin between Timothy Adams, Brendon Rubie and James Schaaf. Adams would earn a nice double up against Rubie and he would earn the chip lead. Third place would eventually go to James Schaaf when he and Adams went head to head on a board of Q-2-2-Q-Q and Schaaf’s pocket fours would fall short of Adams pocket tens.

Heads up play would then begin and it would take three levels of play before Adams would earn the win. On the last hand, Rubie would open up the betting and Adams would raise. Rubie would call and the flop would fall 8-Q-10. Adams wagered again and Rubie called to see the 5 on the turn. Adams would go all in and Rubie would be hesitant but would finally call. Rubie held K-Q and Adams held A-Q and with an A on the river, Adams would earn the hand and the title win.
