The new Stars Rewards loyalty program launched about a month ago in Italy and Denmark, providing players with a new way to earn rewards. PokerStars has now announced the program is live in France, Spain and Portugal as of the 4th and the rest of the markets will see the program go live tomorrow. PokerStars will not be offering the program in New Jersey and it is unclear as to if the rewards program will be made available in the future or if the brand has other plans for the state as far as rewards are concerned.
With the new program, players will still be able to earn points based on how much poker they play but other factors are to be considered. This includes the net deposits of members. The program was created to be geared more towards recreational players, a trend that has been ongoing for some time now.
PokerStars will not be offering rewards points for the No Limit and Pot Limit cash games where blinds are $5/$10 or $20/$40 Fixed Limit games. Other games will provide 100 rewards points for every Euro/US dollar spent on the rake or tournament fees. Points will be accumulated and used to unlock Chests. The amount of points needed to unlock a Chest will depend on the player. The poker client offers a progress bar so players can see how close they are unlocking their next Chest.
Once a Chest is unlocked, players will have access to a prize. The prize could be cash, rewards points, tournament tickets, free casino play, StarsCoin, free sports bets or other prizes. Rewards are tailored to the player so for example, players who might not be interested in sports bets would not receive this prize as an option.
PokerStars has provided a table on their website to show the chance of earning certain Chests. 1 in every 10,000 chests will contain the max value so it will be difficult for players to earn a top prize.
