Sam Trickett Attacked After Big One for One Drop Tournament

Poker pro Sam Trickett was very successful during the Big One for One Drop tournament at the 2012 World Series of Poker. Trickett finished as the runner up in the event, earning just over $10 million for his efforts. After doing so well during the tournament, Trickett decided to hit the town for a night of celebration. However, the celebrations would turn sour as Trickett was attacked by a large group of men, suffering minor injuries.

It was reported that Trickett hit the town with his girlfriend and a few other friends to celebrate his great finish in the WSOP tournament. During the early morning hours, Trickett was attacked by six men and ended up suffering minor injuries from the attack. Trickett took to his Twitter account to speak about the incident:

“Was having great day until 6 guys did this to me. Seriously wtf? Couldn’t be more angry…#cowards.” Trickett posted a photo of himself after the incident which showed several cuts and bruising to his face.

The incident seemed to stem from jealously instead of a robbery attempt. Many felt as though the men were jealous of Trickett’s success. Trickett Tweeted further: “is this what happens if ur successful? Literally beat the shit out of me and spat in @NatashaSandu face all over nothing.”

Natasha Sandu is Trickett’s girlfriend and she also spoke out on Twitter about the incident stating: “it wasn’t a mugging or anything just over nothing, Sam is fine…gonna spend some quality time together now.”

This is not the first time a poker pro has been attacked but the fact that Trickett was not robbed just goes to show how cruel people can be. Hopefully the group of men will be charged for the attack and we hope that Trickett is recovering well and will be able to compete in other WSOP events very soon.
