Today marks the beginning of the PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker, a series that will feature 65 tournament events taking place over a 12 day time frame. Changes were made to the schedule as well as the format of many events in the series due to player feedback. The TCOOP will run from today until the 29th of January, offering $15 million in total guaranteed prize money.
The Main Event will be one of the larger tournaments on the schedule, taking place on the final day and offering a $2.5 million prize pool. The buy-in for the event is $1,000. For those who cannot pay the $1,000 buy-in, PokerStars will be offering a lower stakes version of the Main Event, with a $250,000 guarantee with only $27 to be paid to participate.
Throughout the tournament series, players will be able to take part in several poker variants. PokerStars is offering nice variety so there is something for everyone. Such variations include:
- Texas Hold’em
- Omaha
- Stud
- Progressive Knock-Outs
- Win the Button
- Bubble Rush
- And more

Due to player feedback, PokerStars decided to make a few changes to the tournament schedule. The companion event to the Main Event was added as players wanted a lower stakes option. After the success of the Mini-WCOOP that offered low stakes options, during the WCOOP, it seemed like the right call for the brand.
Event start times for Saturday and Sunday during the schedule will be compressed at a reasonable time. Start times will be set for 8am or 10am. This means that tournaments will end around 18.30pm. Buy-ins have also been changed for a few events. The High Roller event actually saw an increase to $3,000 as an entry fee.
