The PokerStars European Poker Tour at Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London is over. For two of the players, Paul Mendes and Ian Cox, maybe there was a little added pressure as the only UK players at the final table and the first three EPT London titles had gone the UK. This time though, it would be different.
392 players began and Joseph Mouawad from Lebanon was the last one standing. Mouawad was an online poker qualifier for this event (through PokerStars) and pocketed a cool £611,520 for his weekend effort. Joseph defeated Florian Langmann from Germany in heads up play for the title.
Almost even in chips to begin heads up play and the final run to the title, Mouawad started to edge ahead. Like most of this tournament, it didn’t take but about an hour for all the chips to be in the middle. Joseph held Q3 and flopped top pair to Langmann’s 89 and flopped middle pair. Mouawad went all in over the top of Langmann and was called. Mouawas hit a third queen on the turn and the championship was his.
