Hundreds of poker players pulled their chairs up to the felted tables r their second day in play at the 2008 prestigious PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA)poker tournament. Of the 1,136 total registered players 478 remained at the start of today’s battle. As mentioned previously here on 4flush, each seat in the PCA is valued $8,000.00. Players have the option of either winning their seats directly from Pokerstars, playing satellite games directly preceding the event, or paying the full buyin amount and buying their way into the tournament.
At the end of the day, 159 of the original 478 players remained in the game, of them, Eric “Rizen” Lynch ‘rose’ to the heap of the pile, becoming the tournaments chip leader just before the night was called. According to the PokerStars blog, Lynch found himself up against an all in opponent, without much hesitation, he made the call. Found himself up against a turned flush draw (no pair). The draw never came, the pocket pair of kings Lynch flipped over stayed good, and Lynch took over the tournament chip lead with a total of 526,900.
ElkY, team PokerStars Supernova had been holding onto the chip lead for Lynch until that point, and finished the day with 435,000 in tournament chips. Joining him on tomorrow for day 3 will be well
Woman poker player Kathy Liebert busted out of the game today, leaving just a few women in the field including Wilhelmina Detz and Rosamelia Ferreira actually sitting side by side. Liebert, a world renowned poker player immediately traded in the tournament tables for the cash tables.
Arnaud Mattern the Frenchman that scooped 1st place in last months EPT event in Prague also hit the felt today, finding his pocket jacks dominated by pocket kings. Another familiar name, Humberto Brenes of Team PokerStars also busted out of day 3, courtesy of David Pham.
Julian Thew, EPT golden boy began today with just 16,000 and once again proved himself as a professional poker player ending the day with just under 400k in tournament chips.
Ryan Collett the 2008’s original chip leader hit the felt today, when 0 of 19 outs on the flop hit the felt. Also according to the PokerStars blog, it looks as though Daniel Negreanu has busted, though no details are given.
Team PokerStars Pro also lost several of its finest. Daniel Negreanu and Isabelle Mercier both left it late, but hit the rail. Noah Boeken and Tom McEvoy, who had started on the same table, left it within about an hour of each other. – PokerStars Blog
The cards will be in the air at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure again tomorrow at noon. Play should be pretty intense from the get go as the last 39 players before the money hit the felt. The top 120 players in the tournament will grab a share of the $8.5 Million prize pool.
