PokerStars Attempting to Break Own World Record Again

PokerStars is the king of breaking online poker records. Every record they attempt to break is one they have already made. The online poker room is currently getting ready to break the Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament ever played a record which they already hold.

The record for the largest online poker tournament ever played has been set twice, both times by PokerStars. the first time the record was set was in December 2008 when 35,000 players competed in the same online tournament. PokerStars then broke the record again in July 2009 when 65,000 players competed in the same tournament.

The next record breaking attempt will take place at PokerStars on the December 27th at 2:45pm ET. The tournament will have a buy-in of $1 and be a No Limit Hold’em tournament. PokerStars is trying to draw a large field of competitors by offering a guaranteed first place prize of $50,000 and a total prize pool of $300,000. The top 30,000 players will earn a cash prize.

PokerStars Tournaments Team Leader Bryan Slick commented: “Players really enjoy these events, and so do we. There is a real thrill when the tournament begins and everyone realizes just how many people are taking part from all over the world.”

Players who would like to take part in the record breaking attempt can already register at PokerStars. players can register under the Tourney and Special tabs at PokerStars website. Players will not be able to register late for this event.
