Poker Player Accuses Two Pros of Cheating During 2009 Partouche Poker Finals

It was recently reported that poker player Nordine Bouya has posted a video on YouTube, claiming that Cedric Rossi and Jean-Paul Pierre Pasqualini used certain signals to cheat during the Partouche Poker Tour Grand Finals in 2009. The video is around four minutes long and shows the alleged signals used so both players could finish in the top two of the tournament.

During the video, Bouya states that both players used signals to be able to make the right moves to make the final two of the tournament.  The Partouche Poker Tour of 2009 grand final had 521 players who created a prize pool of € 3,889,740. Several top players competed in the event and it was after five days that the final table was set to include Pasqualini and Rossi. During the video, it clearly shows that the creator of the video believes the two paired up and used a coding system to be able to communicate what cards they had on their starting hand. This would allow the two to anticipate their actions.

In the video, if a player touches a body part, it means something:

Head     player has an ace

Front     player has a king

Eye         player has a Queen

Nose     player has a jack

Mouth  has a 10

Neck      8 or 9

Arm       small pair

The video has gained attention at several poker forums as well as news sites and this has caused Pasqualini to respond to the cheating allegations. The response was published in French and translated to roughly state the Groupe Partouche, the group that organized the event, was conscientious at the event to verify the hands that were played at the final table. Pasqualini wanted to know why the group would have omitted to check the hands on the last four minutes. Pasqualini also stated that the Groupe Partouche was very serious about monitoring the hands that a player was disqualified the very next year for cheating.

Pasqualini also stated that he did not know Cedric Rossi before the tournament began and he also stated: “Why these four minutes? Precisely why me? And more importantly, why leave this video now, why did you not release two years ago or three years? Perhaps because the author of the video did not then promotion to…I want to point out that sometimes it FITTING other video players scratching their nose, mouth, and, more generally, the face, which is also verified on the full rush.”

In closing, Pasqualini stated that the final table was played in a secure location and took place for over 18 hours. Pasqualini commented: “Four minutes of video oriented construction must be put in perspective with the reality of a rush of more than eighteen hours. I know what I did. I won this tournament in an honest way.

The video has been viewed several times and players are discussing this instance at length. However, the allegations have apparently been found to be garbage.
