Online Poker site Full Tilt gets the “Bad Beat” over Bots

You may have a surprise in your Full Tilt Poker Account today!

After recent allegations that bots were playing online poker at Full Tilt, the site has issued several players that lost hands with the poker bots refunds.

The bots reportedly played on Full Tilt at the Texas Hold’em Limit cash tables and possibly, however not confirmed, at some no limit style tables

Rumor has it, Full Tilt Poker has frozen the associated accounts and seized the money of the alleged players utilizing bots.

A poker bot is a type of malware, since the bot player is not human, they don’t express fear or shame, they also can’t recognize a bluff, they play the math, playing correct poker, not emotional poker, which has both it’s ups and downs. Humans on the other hand might back off against extremely aggressive players.

For example, a poker bot will raise any two cards if they think there is even the slightest advantage based on a real player’s history.

Although bots have been a common theme in online gambling and poker playing for several years now, it has been almost impossible to catch them. Like slimy snakes, they seek out unassuming new poker players that are still naive about the online gambling world.

The security department of Full Tilt Poker has sent out emails advising several players on their site they are victims and refunds will be given.

FullTiltpoker has not confirmed the names of the accounts involved, however, Japinthesack and BeatMe1 have been mentioned in forums.

Kudos to Full Tilt! It looks like we may see some changes in the world of online poker as poker rooms start following full tilts lead and taking out the trash.

  1. This article is full of uninformed speculation. It’s highly unlikely that anyone has bothered to make a poker bot that could make moves like it talks about – a poker bot would be most likely to play absolutely 100% “by the book”, as if you play 100% mathematically, you’re still likely to beat most of the players out there. And even if you are up against a whole table of good players, it’s not likely to lose very much.

I highly doubt that Full Tilt would ever admit to people using bots of any kind, and I’ve never heard of them offering refunds to anyone for anything – as far as I can tell, this article is not only heresay and speculation, it’s damn near unverifiable.

A poker bot has a disadvantage if it starts trying to make plays – if someone figures it out, it will lose it’s ass handily. Same reason if someone were to figure out that you were playing 100% mathematically, you’d probably lose your ass very slowly until you flopped the nuts. But it’s a lot more likely that you’ll just win a bunch of small pots, and lose some small pots.

  2. I dunno, for a brand new article, from a never before published author – I’d say it was pretty darned good ;), perspective I suppose.. Ryan seems to think it was ok hehe 😉

Thanks Kelli! Glad to have you on board!
