The month of June was not a good one for online poker sites in the state of New Jersey. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement recently released the monthly revenue figures for June which showed online poker was at its lowest since November of last year. Overall, iPoker gaming brought in a total of $1,969,175, which is about a 23.4% decline for the month.
June was shorter than May so that will attribute to a percentage of the decline, but only a small portion. Revenue reports show that PokerStars was a big contributor to the May revenues, creating almost 45% of the overall totals for online poker. In June, this amount dropped by just over 32% to $778,070. Party/Borgata were also down, dropping almost 20% to earn only $589,002, making this the least amount that the duo brought in since poker began online in New Jersey back in 2013. WSOP/888 was able to earn $602,103 for the month of June, falling just over 12%.
June seems to be a bad month overall for online poker in the United States, especially when you consider this is the time when the World Series of Poker is taking place. A large number of players in New Jersey will be in Las Vegas to compete. June is also a busy month for vacations so many individuals in New Jersey may have just been on vacation or taking part in outdoor activities. Also to consider is the fact that the NJ Spring Championship of Online Poker took place in May which would have bolstered the online revenue numbers for that month, making June look lower than it should.
In regards to online casino game play for the state, the numbers continue to look good. For June, the state saw an increase in revenues, setting yet another revenue record. This is the 8th time in nine months that online casino gaming has set records for performance. For June, online casinos of New Jersey earned $14,433,002 which is just over a 3% gain for the month and over 46% increase year-on-year.
