Nevada Attorney General Shares Info on Seals With Clubs Investigation Against Bryan Micon

SealsWithClubsAdam Laxal, the Nevada Attorney General, released information on the Seals with Clubs investigation which lead to the filing of an arrest warrant of Bryan Micon earlier this week. The details of the investigation of the Bitcoin Poker site show how an undercover agent used a Seals With Clubs account to gain information on the Bitcoin poker site, with Micon now facing as much as ten years in prison.

During a press conference, Laxal explained the investigation into the Bitcoin site is the first time the state is investigating such activities. According to a report at the Las Vegas Review Journal, the case first began after a Belgian national told the Gaming Control Board of the site and found that Seals With Clubs may be conflicting with the regulations of online gaming within the state.

It was Ricardo Lopez who went undercover to pose as a poker player and open an account with the site back in February of last year. He used the account to understand how the site worked as a bitcoin only site. According to Lopez, he used his chips to bet and won hands while losing some as well. He purchased Bitcoin by using US currency and then gambled using the Bitcoin at the website on two different dates, taking part in 30 hands of poker, noting the site took a rake of certain poker hands.

Once the account was created and used, the officials of Nevada began to examine the content that was published at the online poker site as well as social media accounts in relation to the site. State authorities concluded that Micon was a key part of the ownership and function of the gaming site.

Analyzing Skype logs and based on Micon’s admissions, the site was earning $10,000 to $12,000 each month. Laxalt stated in the press conference that the industry within Nevada must be licensed and controlled. The AG further stated that defending the state’s worldwide reputation as the gold standard of gaming integrity is a paramount concern to tens of thousands of residents employed by the industry as well as tourists who visit the state every year.

On February 11th, Micon’s Las Vegas home was raided and he then relocated to Antigua. Along with the raid, the site was shut down during the process. He maintains his innocence stating he did nothing wrong and has hired a legal team to work on his behalf. Micon has also asked for support with the creation of a crowdfunding campaign. On April 28th, Micon opened a GoFundMe account asking for assistance as he fights his case with legal representation which is quickly depleting his funds based on the court costs.
