The Poker Hall of Fame has announced the two finalists who will be inducted as the newest members of the elite organization, with Jennifer Harman and John Juanda earning the coveted spots. With the inductions, the Poker Hall of Fame will now have 50 members.
Both Harman and Juanda were nominated by the public and voted into the Poker Hall of Fame by existing members plus a media panel. The induction ceremony is set to take place on the 6th of November at 7:00pm with a ceremony and dinner. Binion’s Gambling Hall in Nevada will host the event.
Ty Stewart, the governing council member of the Poker Hall of Fame, congratulated the two new members stating that both Jen and John are well-respected long-time poker players who have paid their dues and deserve to represent the Poker Hall of Fame 2015 class.
Jennifer Harman commented on being chosen, calling the induction ‘truly an honor to be selected’ and spoke about how poker has been an unbelievable journey. Harman feels amazing to have the respect of her peers and thanked everyone for their support.
John Juanda also was appreciative of the recognition, stating it was an honor to see his name among players that he had admired throughout his career including Daniel Negreanu, Chip Reese, Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel.
To be considered for the Poker Hall of Fame, an individual must meet a specific set of criteria. This includes having played poker amongst acknowledged top competition, being at least 40 years of age during nomination and played for high stakes. Players must also have played consistently well, having gained the respect of their peers. Poker players must also have stood the test of time.
Non-players who are nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame must have contributed to the overall growth and success of the game. The outcome of their contributions should be positive and have lasting results. Congratulations to Jennifer Harman and John Juanda for being the 2015 class of the Poker Hall of Fame!
