iGaming Revenues in New Jersey Increase Year-Over-Year for May

DE gamblingThe new figures for online gambling in the state of New Jersey have been released and the casino offerings continue to be the top money earner. Over the past few months, the year-over-year growth has been strong, with the casino games bringing in all the revenues. Totals for the month of May consisted of $12.5 mm earned with $10.5 mm coming from the casino gaming and $1.92 mm from online poker.

When looking at the figures on a year-over-year basis, the 2015 month of May resulted in a 19.1 increase from the very same month in 2014. The online casino gaming saw a jump with almost 29% more revenues earned while poker dropped just over 15% from $2.27mm to $1.93mm.

Moving from April to May saw a decrease in revenues by a very small percentage, but the gap does widen when you consider that May had an extra day for game play. It is not surprising to see a drop in online revenues as summer has begun with vacations and outdoor activities taking precedence.

The Borgata was the big earner of the state with $3.96m in overall revenues with Caesars earning $200k in casino gaming to help with the $27k in losses of online poker gaming. Earning the most with online casino game play was the Golden Nugget, while the Resorts AC was able to earn 50% more than April in casino gaming with $324k in online revenues. After cutting back on promotional materials, the Tropicana saw a decline to $25mm in online casino revenues.

With the 15.2% drop in online poker revenues, it is important to note this is the smallest decrease for online poker in 2015. Each month of the year, the online poker industry has dropped at least 20% or more when compared to the same time frame in 2014.
