Gregory Merson wins Event #57 of 2012 WSOP

The 2012 World Series of Poker continues and the latest winner is Gregory Merson. Merson won Event #57 of the series which was a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em-Six-Handed event. The event lasted four days before Merson was able to claim the first place win.

Merson began Day 3 in 12^th place and with only 27 players remaining it would take an extra day before the tournament would complete. Merson would win a few big pots and then earn the chip lead, which he would hold on to and earn the coveted gold bracelet.

Merson would take out Nick Maimone with A-9 against Maimone’s K-J. This would leave eight players in the tournament and then Merson would take out Layne Flack wit A-K to move the table down to just seven players.

Merson would then have an even bigger lead which he would hold on to. Merson would then eliminate Andrew Lichtenberger in sixth and then after Christopher Brammer was eliminated in fifth, Merson would take out another player.

Merson would call Eddy Sabat’s all in and use his K-7 to defeat Sabat’s K-Q. The board would give Merson two pair and he would eliminate his next victim.

The tournament would continue to heads up play after Merson took out Shannon Shorr and this would leave Merson taking on Keith Lehr. Merson held a nice chip lead and it would not be long before he claimed the gold bracelet.

It took just one hand for Merson to earn the win. Merson opened with 280,000 from the button and Lehr would three bet to 915,000. Merson then shoved al in and Lehr called. Lehr showed A-Q and Merson held K-9 suited. The flop would fall 10-9-10 and Merson was out front. The Q on the turn would put the game in Lehr’s favor but the J on the river gave Merson the hand and the first place win!
