Greg Raymer Comments on Recent Arrest

Greg-Fossilman-RaymerOn March 8th, the poker forum at FlopTurnRiver.com posted that on March 27th, Greg Raymer would be featured as their next forum interview. Fans as well as poker players would have the opportunity to log on to the forum and ask the poker pro a question.

This announcement was of course, before Raymer was arrested as part of the North Carolina prostitution ring bust. One would think that Raymer would back out of the interview, but he did not. The pro even commented on his recent arrest.

From the 8th until yesterday, players began posting on the FlopTurnRiver forums. Some players being silly at first while others posted poker questions. Once the mid-March posts began, players started discussing the arrest, calling it the ‘elephant in the room’.

Raymer eventually logged in the forum and before answering any questions, he had this to say:

“Thanks for coming to my AMA here on www.FlopTurnRiver.com! I will be answering many of the questions posted in this thread during the next hour. Sorry if I don’t get to your question, not enough time to answer them all. I know that many of you are curious about my arrest a couple of weeks ago, and want to know more. I appreciate your questions and your interest, but I am still at a point in the process where my lawyers have advised me to not answer most questions on that subject.

What I would like to say is that I am very sorry for the pain and suffering I’ve caused my wife, daughter, and family, as well as for any disappointment or difficulties I’ve caused to my friends and fans. Also, I appreciate very much the words of support and encouragement received from many of you. Now let’s talk about poker!”

Raymer may not have gave away any details in his case but he did clear the air and make way for the other more important questions, about the game of poker. Topics ranged from game play to US poker legislation. The pro was asked how he realistically feels about online poker in the US and he had this say:

“I’ve always been bad at setting lines. However, we are moving quickly now on legalizing online poker at the state level, and I am sure that this process will continue to build speed for quite some time now.

The real question is how long will it take for the states to successfully come together and offer games on sites that operate within multiple jurisdictions. I don’t know how long this will take, but I do know that if you help us by lobbying your politicians, it will be sooner.

Please check out www.thePPA.org to see what you can do to help in your state.”

Despite little information on his arrest, the interview is still interesting. The full interaction, including questions can be read here.
