Facebook Leads to Poker Room Robbery Arrest

Facebook is quickly becoming more than just a way to stalk ex-boyfriends and snoop on friends. The social media site has become a promotional tool and one that can help in any situation. According to a recent report at Exeter.patch.com, the site is the reason a poker room robber sits in jail today. A tip, thanks to a Facebook post, led to the arrest of Bryan Lisio, age 26, for the robbery of a poker room player in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Local law enforcement was looking for a young man who attacked a 64 year old man outside The Poker Room on January 31st and stole $80 from the victim. According to police, the suspect waited in the parking lot of the venue and saw the victim going to his car. The suspect then attacked, beat the victim over the head, strangling him and demanding money. The victim heard the suspect’s gun go off during the assault, at least 4 times and to stop the beating, the victim had to state he was having a heart attack.

The suspect then fled the scene with the $80. Once police were alerted of the robbery, they posted a photo of a hat that was found on the scene, which they believed belonged to the suspect. The photo was then posted on Facebook, as well as other media sites, by the Crimeline for the Hamptons and one man recognized the hat, and called in to the tip line.

The tip led to the arrest of Lisio, who is currently being held on $50,000 bail. The victim has since been recovering from the injuries he sustained during the attack. Frank Valgenti is the Director of Marketing for The Poker Room and he stated that he is glad the suspect was caught and ‘This is something we never want to see happen again.”
