Debra Gudina Wins the Arizona State Ladies Poker Championship

To win a big tournament you need skill, stamina, good timing and yes, a little luck. Debra Gudina had all that going for her today in the 2007 Arizona State Ladies Poker Championship as she outlasted a stellar field to take the title.

This was just the second annual Arizona State Ladies Poker Championship and the Phoenix Arizona native won $50, 000 of the $125,000guaranteed prize pool.

The heads up play pitted Debra against Nancy Hellner of Scottsdale Arizona. With second place receiving $25,000, there was a lot riding one this final pairing. Winner would receive $25,000 more prize money, the title and the gold necklace. End the end though Debra prevailed and is now this year’s Queen of Poker.

Last years tournament was such a hit that the poker room was rearranged this year to allow seating for another 50 poker players, upping the first place prize by ten thousand dollars.

According to Dave Smith at Casino Arizona, Debra Gudina took first place, winning the cash ($50,000.00), the trophy, the title and the beautiful diamond necklace.
