The state of New Jersey is one of only three states that offers online poker gaming within the US and seemingly the one state that continues to try and advance their position within the online poker market. New Jersey is the first to work with PokerStars and now could become the first to offer online poker gaming internationally.
According to a report with Global Gaming Business, an agreement in principle has been reached between the UK Gambling Commission and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement in regards to a relationship in sharing liquidity. David Rebuck, the Director of the DGE, has stated that there are a number of regulatory issues that will need to resolved before activity could begin, but stated that the DGE is very serious about the potential to see the shared liquidity come to fruition. Such issues that will need to be worked on include player ID and geolocation plus tax rates.
Online operators who hold licenses for online poker gaming within the state have been contacted by the DGE if they do business in the UK as well. The DGE is asking these operators for their comments on what they would like to see happen with a shared liquidity program. The DGE would like any responses to be given by the 1st of August. According to the Global Gaming Business report, the program would start by focusing on poker but there was a possibility that the program would shift to online casino gaming as well. Operators who offer services in the UK as well as New Jersey include:

The potential ramifications of shared player liquidity between New Jersey and the UK are great. This would of course be a first, as the federal government of the United States has spent time and money trying to prevent gambling sites that are licensed internationally from providing services within the US. In New Jersey, the online gaming market is restricted to operators having servers based in Atlantic City, so essentially changes would need to be made in regards to the law to allow such activity to take place, from the UK perspective.
