4th Garden State Super Series a Success

PartyThe Garden State Super Series finished up its 4th edition just recently, with Party Poker and Borgata Poker reporting the 62 total events were a great success. The online poker series is a popular one in the state of New Jersey and this time around, offering $1 million in guaranteed prize money.  Most every tournament was able to surpass its guarantee. For this edition, the series offered 19 more events than the GSSS III and more guaranteed prize money, well over the $800,000 from the last series.

With 62 tournaments on the schedule, only 2 were unable to meet their guarantee. #56 and #57 both did not reach their mark but by only $900 and $1,200 respectively. In total, the series was able to pay out just over $1.3 million to poker players participating.

One of the more popular events on the schedule was #2, a No Limit Hold’em tournament with a buy-in of $200. This event offered $94,400 in total prize money which was well over the $75,000 guarantee. Several other events surpassed their prize pool guarantees as many players logged on to compete.

The Borgata/Party Poker relationship has been successful when it comes to online poker in the state of New Jersey. The GSSS is just one example as to how the brands have been able to work together and offer solid gaming offerings for players. The partnership now has to contend with PokerStars who will go live in New Jersey on the 21st of this month, if they are able to pass the testing phase, which is expected.

It will be interesting to watch as both PartyPoker/Borgata and PokerStars compete and how players respond to the new site being offered within the state. Will Party/Borgata players give PokerStars a try? Or will players continue to visit the sites they have been calling home for some time now?
