Edward Norton and Jamie Gold to Host Charity Poker Tournament

This weekend Edward Norton star of the famous “Rounders” poker movie and Jamie Gold the 2006 WSOP Main Event winner will be working together to host a charity poker tournament. The tournament will take place at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc during the Cannes Film Festival to benefit the Wilhelm and Karl Maybach Foundation and the Sunflower Children Foundation.

Gold will be the emcee of the event as it kicks off at 10:30pm on May 17th. Around two hundred and fifty VIPs are expected to attend and the winner of the charity event will earn a seat at the 2009 WSOP with flights to Vegas and Hotel accommodations included. The kicker of the top prize though is that Jamie Gold will be coaching the winner privately before and during the WSOP event.

The day after the tournament, the Maybach Foundation will be holding a private luncheon which will be filled to the brim with celebrities. Created in 2006, the Maybach Foundation helps gifted young people reach their full potential by providing financial and mentoring support. The other charitable organization associated with the tournament, the Sunflower Children Foundation, helps aid disadvantaged children in several areas around the world including: Cambodia, Colombia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Brazil, Guinea, India, Kenya, South Africa, Nepal, Niger, Nicaragua, Peru, Romania, Guatemala, and the Philippines.

The Maybach Foundation has released a list of celebrities who will be attending the tournament. Those included are: Jason Segel, Brittany Murphy, Faye Dunaway, Emile Hirsch, Moran Atias, Vincent Gallo, Laura Ramsey, Peyman Amin and Ronald Altbach
