Earlier this week, it was announced that Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf had signed a gambling bill into law that will allow for a massive expansion of the state’s gambling industry. With the expansion, the state will be able to offer online casino and poker gaming, daily fantasy sports, online lottery sales and so much more. Now, it seems the state is already reaping the rewards as one casino has paid a big fee in order to ease gambling restrictions.
According to CBSPhilly, the Valley Forge Casino has paid $1 million to the state in order to loosen gambling restrictions that were imposed on those who do not take part in certain amenities of the property. The casino floor of the venue was limited to guests, patrons or membership holders. The casino had these limits in place due to their license in the resort category.
Now that the expansion law has been signed, the limitation no longer exists. Valley Forge posted on their casino website encouraging patrons to visit now that there is no extra cost to do so. Eric Pearson, the Valley Forge Casino Resort President and CEO, commented on the changes by stating that in the five years of operation, the venue has been constrained by the amenities requirement along with membership fees, which led to guests being confused and frustrated. The venue is now thrilled to be able to welcome guests to the gaming floor in the same way that other casinos of the state are able to do.
On top of the restrictions being lifted, the casino also now has the ability to provide as many as 250 more slot machines on-site as well as up to 15 poker tables, thanks to the new legislation. The venue can also apply for a license to offer online gaming and sports betting once available.
