France To Change Laws Regarding Online Gambling Trade
By Jennifer Spriggs on Oct 01, 2007 with Comments 0
Recently, there have been many fingers pointed at France as they have been receiving warnings from the rest of the European Union because of the denial of free trade of online gaming.
So much in fact, that the European Court of Justice has made threats to sue unless changes are made regarding France’s state-run gaming monopoly. There is a deadline of October 29th to update their laws. But Eric Woerth, France’s minister, has made it clear that he is not against online gaming as long as it is regulated.
Just shortly after the meeting in Brussels, there will be one in Paris on October 17, which will be to try and adapt the French model of betting and gaming. The goal is for everything to meet the European Union standards and allow cross-border competitors in. Expected to partake in the Paris meeting is Francaise des Jeux, Partouch and Tranchants, The European Gaming and betting Association (EGBA), Betfair, and PMU.
